Bella Trattoria
Last week, my aunt told me about a new restaurant that had impressed her greatly. I spread the word, and my parents and I decided to try it. It so impressed us that we decided that we’d have to return. And we did, earlier this evening.
Bella Trattoria is a tiny little restaurant located at 100 W. Main Street in Williamsville, Illinois. The interior is tastefully decorated to evoke a Mediterranean atmosphere, and the food is pure Italian heaven. The menu is rather simple, but in visiting with the proprietor this evening, I discovered that there is usually some special dish that he creates daily that does not appear on the menu.
Both times I visited, the restaurant quickly filled to capacity. Although the menu simply consists of a variety of appetizers, pizzas, sandwiches, pastas, and desserts, both the quantity and the quality of the food provide ample reasons for the lack of space. Quantity in that the portions are exceptionally generous, and quality in that the taste sensations are simply out-of-this-world, but that brings to mind my upbringing in an Italian extended family. Dining at this restaurant is also easy on the pocketbook.
Did I mention I liked this place?

I am so happy to read this! My husband and I are long haul truck drivers and today we stopped at the Loves Travel Center in Williamsville. We are avid bike riders so we suited up and set off to explore Williamsville. We saw Bella Trattoria on the way in and made a mental note to come back around for dinner there. Boy, were we in for a treat. After riding through charming Williamsville we got a little hungry and propped our bikes up right outside of the window in front of the restaurant. We were greeted with warm and friendly faces. We took our seat beside the window to keep an eye on our bikes but we later learned there was no need. This town was plucked straight our of a Norman Rockwell. Ok, to the food: My husband ordered the fettucinne alfredo and said it was perfection, I ordered the penne vodka that was DEVINE. We also enjoyed the garlic cheese bread and the italian bread with dipping sauce (had to carb up for the long bike ride, ya know). The owner caught wind that we were ‘outsiders’ and sent over an antipasto salad that my husband loved. It was on the house. How incredibly nice to be welcomed into this town by such an awesome place. We continued riding around Williamsville for a few more hours and then headed back to our truck. But the food at Bellas as we now call it warrants another bike ride there as soon as we get back through. Bellisimo!
