Boulevard’s Unfiltered Wheat Beer

Boulevard’s Unfiltered Wheat is a very unusual wheat beer. It pours only mildly cloudy for an unfiltered beer, and has a paler color than the wheat beers I’m accustomed to. It’s bottle-conditioned, so it pours a fizzy head. However, the head was shorter-lived than other wheat beers. It had a nice, fruity aroma, but the citrus-like sour taste was not noticeable on the first few sips. I only discerned that sourness after the third or fourth sip, and afterwards, it became very noticeable.
It’s a good beer, but it is very different from other wheat beers, which I think I prefer. I’d prefer it to be in its own category, rather than judge it next to beers such as Weihenstephaner, Ayinger, or even Sierra Nevada’s wheat, because that would do a disservice to the intentions of all the brewers involved.

I completely agree.
I don’t like most wheat beers, I find them too fruity or flowery. This one is different from most wheats. I really enjoy the sour bite.
When I was traveling to St Louis on business, this was my beer choice.
