Ecumenical talks reach partial accord on Papal Primacy

The dialogue in Ravenna between the Eastern Orthodox Churches and the Catholic Church has yielded a statement. However, it doesn’t seem to say anything new. Everyone agrees that of the five ancient patriarchates, the Bishop of Rome had primacy. But no one agrees on what that means.

Read the news article here.

From the comments:

Without having read it, one ventures to suggest that a 46-paragraph document on an essentially simple subject such as this might be regarded on its face as of very little significance. If they really agreed, they could probably say so in three or four.

Even though they are theologians.

Create a 3-partition Boot Camp setup in Leopard

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

Mac OS Hints has a tutorial about installing Windows on a third partition of your Mac’s hard drive, getting around Boot Camp’s 2-partition limit. The geek in me loved reading it, but I realize most people couldn’t care less.

Work Continues

Since I didn’t have to work on Monday, I spent the day with my father pre-fabricating the window and door headers. We’ll take them out to the site when the time comes to frame up the walls. By manufacturing them now, when we cannot work at the site, we’ll save time later. And saving time when it’s really cold out is a Good Thing™.

Yesterday, they dug the footings.

Today, they installed the sump, put down the gravel, and poured the footings. Pictures below.

Roger Zelazny’s Shadows of Amber

The stories of the Amber series (10 novels and 6 short stories) by the late Roger Zelazny are classics of fantasy literature. John Gregory Betancourt has already written one trilogy to serve as a prequel, and is now starting on another series, which takes place between his prequel and Zelazny’s original stories. Shadows of Amber is the first of this new series.

It’s a good story, and stands well with the other works. Betancourt’s style does differ from Zelazny’s, with a somewhat lessened emphasis on a sense of mystery, and a somewhat heightened sense of adventure and swashbuckling. However, the writing is good. There were several typographical errors, however. I expect these will probably be corrected before the book hits paperback.
