Springfield churches designate 2008 ‘Year of Reconciliation’

Religious leaders in Springfield are seeking to mark the centennial of the 1908 race riots through a more spiritual approach to racial issues. They have designated 2008 as a “Year of Reconciliation” and will hold eight “solemn assemblies” to commemorate the riots and to pray for various kinds of reconciliation, many of them racial.
