Fuller’s London Porter
Monday, January 21st, 2008
This wonderfully dark beer has a delightful floral aroma. That usually causes me to worry, since hops are the flowers of the plant, and a floral smell usually presages an overly-bitter flavor. The hops taste is noticeable. It’s the first thing you taste, and it dominates the finish. However, one can also savor the hints of chocolate and caramel from the roasted malts amongst the complex tastes of this well-balanced beer. It’s a beer that lives up to the high standards that I’ve come to expect from Fuller’s, even though it’s a bit too hoppy to be my favorite Porter.
