Today’s liturgy
Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008From the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (via the USCCB):
In all the dioceses of the United States of America, January 22 (or January 23, when January 22 falls on a Sunday) shall be observed as a particular day of penance for violations to the dignity of the human person committed through acts of abortion, and of prayer for the full restoration of the legal guarantee of the right to life. The Mass “For Peace and Justice” (no. 22 of the “Masses for Various Needs”) should be celebrated with violet vestments as an appropriate liturgical observance for this day.

RIP, hard drive
Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008My MacBook’s hard drive died last night. The Apple Support Forums show that there is an epidemic of this affecting MacBooks. It happened to mine at a really inconvenient time. I was just about to start a new web design project for a neighbor, and it had been a little while since my last back up. Of course, the warranty has expired. I’m also a bit strapped for cash, and don’t really want to have to fork out the money for either a replacement part (and I’m not sure I want to open it up to swap out the hard drives) or a replacement machine.
But I need a functioning computer. GAH!
