Another pet peeve

Aren’t people who are making left turns supposed to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic? I certainly thought so. But apparently, this is left out of driver’s ed. It was worse among Minnesota drivers, but that bad habit is becoming more and more prevalent here in Illinois, too. This happened last night. I just wonder what these people would have done if my turn signal had been in error, and I wasn’t actually making a right turn. If I had gone straight ahead, she would have turned right in front of me, and the resulting collision would have been nasty.

I’ve said it for years Springfield has the worst drivers in the state.

  • Several years ago, I said that people here drive like it’s a small town or out in the middle of nowhere. It’s not a small town. It’s not even a big town. It’s a small city.

And when it first snows or freezes here – like it does every year – people drive like they’ve never seen snow before.
